Reaction to Peer Review

I had a positive reaction to the peer review. I find that in my writing I tend to repeat a few mistakes that I consistently overlook. For example I tend to accidentally write a word such as your and meant you're. I am very confident in my grammar and style of writing so I like to share it with others. I enjoyed this assignment and did not mind sharing my experience with others rather than just the teacher. Also, I think the peer reviews allow you to write to multiple audiences. I find that I judge my effort in my assignments more to impress other students than just the teacher.

Discourse Communities

When I think about discourse communities I often think about an online forum. I am often on forums online to ask or give information to other people who are interested in Guitar advice, products and techniques. These are discourse communities because they use jargon that only musicians understand for the most part and jargon only guitar players use. By this I mean if somebody accidentally ran across the website they may not know what was being said or misconstrue what was said. Also, it is a discourse community within the discourse community of online users. Many people who post things on line especially in instant messages or forums use abbreviations that not everyone would understand.
